Maya’s Winter Favorites

After a very very cold winter (by my standards because I’m always cold) it’s finally getting a bit warmer. So, let’s take a look at what got my through the cold last season!

Albums

Silver Deliverer

Favorite Songs: If You Get Lonely, Dandelions

January was dry for me in terms of music. I randomly came across this relatively recent release of theirs and locked all the way in. Why did y’all hide this from me? So good, but as expected because it’s Aly & AJ, whom have never made a bad song.

XO, My Cyberlove

Favorite Song: Heart Tea Bag

I heard Heart Tea Bag on a random “New Release” playlist and fell in love instantly with it. Most of my experience with Chuu is just through her time with LOONA. I thought this was a solid release and I can’t wait to go back and listen to some of her other solo stuff.

4

Favorite Songs: 1+1, I Was Here, I Care, Rather Die Young, Schoolin’ Life

Because January was so dry, I went back in time to revisit some releases from my queen. Which I’m very glad I’m did, because we did not give this the love it deserved when it came out. The pacing in this is immaculate. A very fun and exciting re-listen. My most recent “Song of the Day” post is actually “I Was Here”, so go check that out when you have a moment!

Dangerously in Love

Favorite Songs: Naughty Girl, Be With You, Signs, Speechless, Dangerously in Love

Since 4 was already in the queue and January was still moving slow, I said why the hell not and turned on Dangerously in Love too. Beyonce ruled about half of my first month of the year (as she should!). I’m parasocial as is, so hearing her younger voice made me emotional at some points. Strong debut project, and I need her to sing Speechless one more time before it’s all over.

Golden Hour: Part 4

Favorite Songs: Adrenaline, NASA, Choose

February 2026 you were iconic. Right at the beginning of the month, Ateez made their long awaited comeback with this EP. I had high hopes from just being a fan of theirs for so many years now. I can gladly say they did not disappoint. Great pacing in this one as well. Adrenaline has also gone triple platinum in my jogging playlist.

My Ego Told Me To

Favorite Songs: Dead and Gone, Goodbye Goodmorning, Burning Up, Me Minus U, Heaven, Sunrise

I thought at first this release and Baby Keem’s would be in my Spring Favorites instead once that comes around. But they both ranked so high in my Apple Replay for February that I just figured I’d incorporate them in, even with their later releases in the month. I was so excited for Leigh-Anne’s debut and was delighted with what she delivered. She taps into the island sound a lot, but she does have a good range of pop and R&B tracks that I think mesh very well together.

Ca$ino

Favorite Songs: The entire damn album I’m not even kidding

Believe it or not, this is actual the first full project I’ve ever listened to by Baby Keem. I’ve mostly just heard some singles and features he’s done (mainly the Kendrick ones). I came in with 0 expectations and was blown away. The instrumentals and beats are my favorite things ever (especially in Birds & the Bees and $ex Appeal). I’m also crediting him for putting me on to Momo Boyd and Infinity Song, so I’ll be exploring more of them this spring.

Songs / Singles

aka where most of my December listens thrived

Divine

I thought the overall EP was okay, but I mainly only go back to this song. Really because of how Australian they all sound in the chorus. “We make it roooiiight.”

Moving On

I was a bit purpled out in December, I won’t lie. This song came on my shuffle so much throughout the month. It was never really high on my list of favorite BTS songs, but being in the solitude of my car on some late night drives made me appreciate it a lot more.

For Good

Y’all can say what you want about Wicked Part Two, the songs were immaculate. The next time I am blessed with a karaoke machine, I will in fact be doing this song and both parts by myself #staytuned.

Anything by the Jonas Brothers

This was really just because I saw the Jonas Brothers live in December and wanted to continue the feeling of nostalgia. They were amazing live and I felt like my old, Disney kid self for the night.
